From African grey parrots to serval cats, wild animals are being captured, bred, and sold as pets. What looks harmless on your phone’s feed can help drive a global illegal wildlife trade. Wild animals are being liked to death.

And for every three animals illegally traded, IFAW estimates that 10 will have died during the smuggling process. The animals that survive the terrifying journey face a miserable existence in captivity and will often suffer not only from self-inflicted injuries brought about by anxiety, stress, and depression but also physical abuse from their owners.
